Dear Fellow Art-Lover,
Most of our creators and fans understand Model Society right away. They see a sanctuary for respectful figurative fine art.
Although much of the artwork is nude, we all know that the nudity is not the point.
Model Society is about the spirit and intention of the work – not the nudity.
We're dedicated to:
Artwork that celebrates the beauty of the human form
Artwork that respects the dignity of the human spirit
Artwork that portrays the model as a whole person (and not a sexual object)
Artwork that is created with intention, skill, and craftsmanship.
The vast majority of our creators and supporters insist on these standards.
But some photographers see nude images and think this is a place for naked pictures. When we deny member applications, we explain the reasons.
Those who don't yet understand the community usually react in one of two ways.
Most take a fresh look and instantly understand. They embrace the distinction. They realize the quality of work at Model Society and get inspired to participate at the highest levels.
Some others get offended and call it censorship; they take their ball and go home. Model Society is not for everyone.
It's fair to argue that any naked snapshot is art. It's also fair to argue that porn is art. So we're not arguing about "what is art". That's for everyone to decide for themselves.
We are preserving a space for a particular kind of art. To everyone who understands (and insists) on these standards, thank you!
It is nourishing for me and for thousands from around the world to experience human beauty presented with reverence and respect.
